Christmas Day

I love Christmas, there is something so magical about the whole day! It is great! Lexi slept in, which was my first Christmas present, so at 8:45 a.m. we got started opening gifts. Lexi first opened her stocking, and although she loved everything, her two very favorite things were a Tinkerbell doll, and one of the my little ponies. Then, we started opening gifts from each other and from family. After we were about midway through, Lexi kind of lost interest and started walking around, so Chris decided we needed a cinnamon roll break. So, we ate cinnamon rolls that, if I do say so myself, were the best I have ever made or eaten! Delicious! I only make cinnamon rolls once a year on Christmas day, so they are always a special treat! Then, we opened more presents. We received some awesome gifts and want to thank all who gave us gifts. I won't list all of our gifts, for that would take forever, but I will just tell some of our favorites. Chris's favorite gift was a Seinfeld Scene it DVD game! I finally surprised him with a gift this year! My favorites were The Pioneer Woman Cookbook and Food Network Jelly Roll pans, awesome! Lexi's favorites were Woody and Bullseye toys from the classic movie, Toy Story, and play horses. Christine can't tell us her favorites, but she looks ridiculously cute in all the clothes she got, and she chews and shakes the rattle she got, so we will go with those as her favorites. All in all, it was a relaxing morning and quite fun! Then, we hosted Christmas Dinner with friends. We invited two families over, but one of the families got sick, so they had to cancel, so it ended up being us and our new good friends, The May family. They just moved here from Texas so that he could start Law School and they have become instant friends. So we enjoyed a lovely and scrumptious dinner, followed by awesome desserts and a fun game of Apples to Apples! Lexi had fun playing with David, there three year old son, and especially loved playing with his light sabers!
Christmas was great and I cannot believe that is has already come and gone, but the memories will last forever! Okay, that was kind of cheesy, but I mean it.
Look at all those presents! We are truly blessed!
Right now Lexi likes this more than Christine, but I know any day now Christine will love it too!
We have already played a game, and Chris whooped me. I guess I need to watch more Seinfeld so that Chris has some competition.
I am so excited to try some new recipes! And, who doesn't love Christmas Story? It is one of Chris's favorite movies of all time!
This doll tells a story, super unique and cool.
These guys so far have had to come everywhere with Lex. To church, to bed, to dinner, she is obsessed!

I have decided that I love decorating our table for special meals. It just makes it all the more specal!

The napkin rings are jingle bells and once the kids figured this out, they started singing the song while shaking these bells. It was cute!
I love these bowls! So cute!
The kid table
The idea was to decorate the table cloth, but the kids had more fun eating the mints in the gift bucket pictured on the left, and singing jingle bells so it never got done. Oh well!
The yummy food!
This is one sweet family! Good times. Thanks for coming you guys!

A little blurry because the kids were in action, but after the May's left, Lexi asked if she can have a "white saber" too, just like Davids. Maybe for her birthday is what I told her. We will see.
Chris got this shirt for Christmas, and I think he looks particularly handsome wearing it, so I snapped a picture. I sure love this guy!

Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve this year was simple, traditional and simply wonderful! Chris had to work for most of the day, bummer I know, but when he got home the festivities began! We had Chicken A La King and a green salad with ranch dressing for dinner, which was delicious and quite appropriate for this season because this dinner literally means, "Chicken for the King." Then, since it was just our family, we decided to forgo the acting out the Nativity, and instead we watched the Nativity video accompanied  by the Amy Grant song, Breath of Heaven on the computer. I always feel the spirit when I watch this version and Alexis loved it! Chris and I were so happy because as we were watching, Lexi kept narrating what was happening. For instance, she said, "Mom, the wise men are going to give baby Jesus presents!" And, "Mary is on the donkey because baby Jesus is in her belly and she is too tired to walk." It was cute! It only added to the spirit, in my opinion, and I was glad to know the things we have taught sunk in to her brain. After that, we read part of Luke 2 and ended with our personal testimonies of the Savior. Then, we opened up our Christmas pajamas, ate some truffles, got dressed in our pjs, took some pictures, kissed Lexi good night and retired ourselves for the evening.

This was the first year Lexi asked us to make cookies for Santa. She wanted to make Chocolate Chip cookies, but Chris convinced her that Santa probably eats a lot of those, and would probably like something different, Like oreo truffles. She said okay, and we know that Santa was grateful.
After they were made, Lexi said, "I want to share with Santa." So, we all had a sample taste before going to bed.
I love these pjs! The owls are just too darn cute!
She loved this box!

She can never hold still, she dances and runs all the time!

Christine's Christmas pjs are quite cute too and soft and warm. I love these pjs and I love these girls!

FHE: Opening Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Gifts

My Grandma and Grandpa King, Dad's parents, are so sweet and thoughtful. They are always thinking of me and my girls and I really appreciate that. They sent some presents and my Grandma said we should open them before Christmas so we can enjoy them throughout the rest of this month. So, for Family Home Evening last night, we opened them up. Lexi got a ton of neat movies, including The puppets Christmas Carol, which is so cool,  and popcorn to enjoy while watching these movies. Chris and I got an anniversary edition of The Sound Of Music along with a music box and other really cool sound of music things. Grandma, I don't know if you know, but Chris loves this movie. So, we love it , thank you. Then, they got Christine the cutest little Charger outfit along with some really warm and adorable Charger slippers. So cute! This outfit was so cute in fact, we had to dress her up right away and take pictures of the cutest Charger fan ever! My wonderful Aunt Vicki also sent Lexi a cute little plush santa along with some money. Lexi had so much fun putting the money in her piggy bank today. Thanks Vicki! I have said it before, but I will say it again, I have the best family ever! So far, this has been a great Christmas to remember and the actual day is not even here yet! We are so blessed in so many ways. Although we miss all of our family, we hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas Dresses and Family Pictures

On Sunday, our ward did their Christmas presentation complete with seasonal music and inspiring words to help us remember Christ this holiday season. So, I thought it appropriate to dress the girls in their Christmas dresses. I love them! They both look so cute in them and I am digging polka dots this year, as you can see. Anyways, my girls are already beautiful in a lot of ways, but when they where these fancy dresses it makes them even more darling and more princess like. I sure do love my girls. Merry Christmas everyone from our family to yours!
Uncle Aaron and Christine
what a cute dad and daughter. Don't you agree?
For some reason, I just love this profile picture of Christine
Happy, yeah!
Sisters.
I love how even Christine is smiling, even if she is at a weird angle.

That is one pretty girl

yes, I know she has a sucker. She was being such a stinker it was the only way to get her to cooperate for this photo shoot. But, I still love this picture of me and my girl.

More Books, Please! and Saying Goodbye

Lexi loves reading and she especially loves it when we have different readers to choose from in the house. Most every time, she would ask Maralyn to read her her books. And, when she wasn't asking for Maralyn it was for Aaron. Thanks goodness she has a cool aunt and uncle who didn't mind reading  a lot during their visit. This particular night, Lexi jumped into Maralyn's lap and read story after story, until it was bedtime. Lexi sure loved having Aaron and maralyn come and visit.

Seriously, thanks guys for coming.

Today, they had to go home after visiting for about 5 days and when they left this morning, Lexi cried for about 15 minutes while saying, "I don't want them to leave, I don't want my friends to leave." She, along with the rest of us, really enjoyed it and already miss them here. But, I finally calmed her down by saying that Aaron and Maralyn needed to go home so that Grandma and Grandpa and Shane and Shawn were not lonely. She said, "Oh, okay, I guess I can share them." It was sweet! We really do miss seeing family regularly, but visits are so special and we cherished every moment of this particular one. I asked Lexi what she enjoyed most, and she said, "Reading books with Maralyn," and "When Aaron gave me Chaco (He gave her two pretend snakes)." Highlights for me were playing Balderdash until late, cooking/talking with Maralyn, getting to know Maralyn better, hanging out, and just the great chats we had.

Anyways, we had so much more fun that I will not write every detail on, but all in all, it was fun to visit with family so close to Christmas. Thanks again, guys, and come back anytime! We love you.

Henry Ford:Holiday Edition

Since my awesome Parents-N-Law got us a membership to the Henry Ford, with two free guest passes, we thought we would take Aaron and Maralyn. We had a blast! We went to the famous Buddy's pizza near the museum for lunch which got things off to a great start. Then, we went and had a good time at the museum. For the holiday season, they had a bunch of added things for kids to look at and do. See pictures below. It was neat that there was some variety for Lex because having already been to the Henry Ford twice, she was starting to get sick of seeing all the same things. We sure had fun!
giant train track.
made entirely from Legos. So cool!
Lex and Aaron making their own lego creations
Choo! Choo! Even Christine had fun at the Henry Ford.

Huge Christmas Tree! Lexi just kept saying, "Wow!" over and over.
Riding in a one horse open sleigh, hey! Christine was napping, hence why she is absent from this picture.
Cute little workshop in which Lexi loved going in and out of.
