Lexi's 2 Year Doctor Appointment

Today, Lexi had her 2 year well baby visit at the doctors. She did great! I am happy to report that there were no tears, this is a first. Everything checked out fine, so I have nothing to report except for her stats.

Weight: 33 lbs (97th percentile)
Height: 35 1/2 inches (90th percentile)

She is proportional and doing well. I am so excited because now we only go to the doctor annually. Yeah! I am also excited because shots are over until 5 years of age. Lexi is happy about that too, I am sure!

Lexi's Actual Laid Back Birthday

Yesterday, the 21st of February, was Lexi's actual birthday. Unlike her party, it was a very relaxing day. To start off the morning, I cut her eggo waffles into a flower and butterfly. I am obsessed with my cookie cutters, and those were the two Lexi picked! They were cute! Almost too cute to eat, ALMOST!

After breakfast, we all took showers and then Lexi opened family presents. She opened presents from both sets of Grandparents, and her uncles pitched in on the grandparent farrelly gift. She got some really neat stuff! I won't make a list of them, but basically she is a very blessed girl to have such wonderful grandparents and family members who love her and shower her with gifts. Thank you to everyone for the gifts!

Then, Chris and I presented Lexi with our gift to her, a radio flyer tricycle. Chris did a good job putting it together and she loves it! It is a challenge for her though, because she could not master pedaling or steering on the first try, and that frustrated her, but challenges are good for her. Chris and I have noticed that she gets easily frustrated if she cannot master something on the first try and she gives up if that is the case. This was no exception, but she is determined to figure it out and that is a good thing for her to learn. So, once the winter weather subsides, we are looking forward to taking her to the park so she can get some really good practice time on the tricycle.

Anyways, after that, we got ready for church and then went to church. I brought in sugar cookies to Lexi's nursery class for her birthday treat. It turned out cute! I don't have a pic of it, but I used my cookie cutters, again, and the cookies spelled out, "Alexis is Two!"

And, that just about concluded her birthday day!

Two is going to be a great year for Lexi with lots of changes! These are a few changes she has coming her way this year: sibling, transforming her crib into a toddler bed, potty training, and I am sure there will be more along the way!

But, even though she is officially a toddler and no longer my baby, I love her even more and look forward to this new year with her. I love you, babe!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Lexi!

So, Lexi's real birthday is tomorrow, but since it is the Sabbath, we celebrated with her friends today! We had such a fun time and here are the pictures to prove it!

This is what her invite looked like! If you can't tell it is a pizza party theme!
Here are the girls making their chef hats! They covered them in stickers, crayons, markers, and foam pieces. Then, they got to wear their aprons to get ready for making pizza!

I did not get any pictures of the kids making the pizzas :( but while the pizzas were baking, they danced and sang to a Barney Sing A Long. Lexi had the most fun, I think, but the girls enjoyed it and it was just the right amount of time to "stall" until it was lunch time! The picture is blurry, but it was hard to get my camera to take good moving shots!

Here is just a pic of most of the people at the party! Thanks everyone for coming!

Here is the serving table. This was most of the decorating for the party so Chris got a good shot of it!

This is Alexis opening her presents. This was quite the ordeal. All the girls wanted to open the presents, and ALL the girls thought the present they brought was for them to take home. We didn't want any hurt feelings so we made a compromise. The girl that brought Lexi the gift being opened could help her open it and find a spot for it in Lexi's room. This worked out rather well. And, Lexi was not quite into opening the gifts so the girls helped it get done faster! Then, we moved right on to cake and eventually we got through it!

I made Lexi a pizza cake, since it was a pizza party! The girls LOVED it. We brought it out in a pizza box and they were confused at first and then when they were eating they thought it was neat that it looked like pizza but tasted like cake. Blowing the candle out was funny. Before Alexis could do it, all the other girls did it when the song was over. So, we re-lit the candle to see if Lexi could do it by herself and she couldn't so the girls got to help her out again! It was funny. Anyways, the girls downed the cake, and Lexi wanted seconds so I assumed it was tasty!

Lastly, her is baby Zoey. She is Whitney's little sis. She was laying on the couch as you can see, and somehow she got hold of this balloon. We have no idea how it happened, but it was so cute. She loved it!

All in all, it was a fun party, but man am I tired! Lexi seemed to really enjoy it, even though she doesn't look to enthused in the pics. And, when all her friends left she was sad, she cried. But we gave her a balloon and she got over it. I am glad for friendships though so that special occassions are even more special :)

Valentine's Day: 2010

This has been a GREAT Valentine's Day! I have pictures to document the whole day so here we go....

It all started Saturday night, when I gave Chris his present. I got him the movie, Pure Luck. He has been wanting this movie on DVD for as long as I have known him, but he could never find it. Well, just recently, Amazon had the DVD's for sale but only for a limited time. So, I sneakily got it for him. We watched it last night, and it is HILARIOUS!!! We were each practically crying. I have to say it was the best present I have gotten him thus far. I am so glad he LOVED it.

So then, I decided to make some Valentine's Day Cards for Lexi's nursery class. They turned out so cute! Thanks Keri for the tip.

Chris got me red roses which smell so good. He gave one of the roses to Lexi. We both loved them. I love flowers!

And then, throughout the entire day we celebrated with food! I made a valentine breakfast, since we have don't have church until 1 in the afternoon. I made heart shaped sausage, heart shaped french toast, eggs with cheese, and oranges. YUM! Here are the before shots:

Here is the after shot:

For dinner, we had NY strip steak, which Chris grilled in the snow, caesar salad, and rolls. It was delicious! Chris cooked the steaks perfectly, and caesar is both of our favorite salad!

For dessert, we had fondue with our favorite dippers. Strawberries, pineapple, and angel food cake were my pics, and the oreos and wafer cookies were Chris's pick. Lexi loved the angel food cake! It was so good! I love fondue and am glad we could get this cute little fondue pot with skewers at the thrift store for 5 bucks! It has never been used! It was the perfect way to end a perfect day!

Here are some pics of Lexi and Daddy with HER rose! My mom got her the cute shirt she is wearing. It says, I heart Kisses!

And lastly, here is a pic of me and Lexi. I know she has a runny nose in this one, but it was the best one so I am still posting it.

It really was a great day! I love my family so much!

16 Week Doctor Visit for Baby Number Two!

I have realized today that I update my pregnancy status on FB, but I have not blogged about this pregnancy. So, that bad trend ends today. Here is my pregnancy update as of today's doctor visit.

I measured exactly on track, 16 weeks. I heard the baby's heart beat again and this time it was 155. Last time it was 160, so both are strong, healthy, heartbeats. My urine came back looking good, I am not even dehydrated which is great! I gained no weight which is fantastic! So far, I have gained two pounds overall and my doc is happy because he would like me to only gain 20 lbs from start to finish and he said with only a 2 pound weight gain thus far, I am doing something right. Which is great! Even though he doesn't know I eat ice cream practically every night; I have been having such sweet cravings this time. But heck, my weight is right on track so I guess I can have my ice cream :) Just don't tell my doc, thanks! My blood work is fantastic and surprise surprise I don't even have AIDS. I was so worried :) (Note: Just in case you didn't catch it, that last comment is swimming in a sea of sarcasm). Anyways, things are going great now, which makes me happy since I have had a really rocky start to this pregnancy. But, now the worst is over and I am so happy to be pregnant.

In three weeks, March 3rd, we find out the gender of our baby. I am really thinking it is a girl. Chris and I each want a boy really bad, but I have feelings that our leaning towards a girl, not to mention a lot of dreams lately with me, Alexis and a baby girl. Plus, the heartbeat is really high, and although they say there is no scientific proof that you can tell the gender from heart beats, I believe you can. See, my friend Nisha is due two days before me so we are exactly in the same spot with our pregnancy. Her baby's heart beat ratings have been 130 and 115 and mine have been 160 and 155 so I am convinced she is having a boy and I am having a girl. Which will be really ironic if true, because she wants a girl and I want the boy. We joke about it all the time. But, I will tell you if my theory is correct come March 3rd I guess.

Anyways, although my appointment today could not have been better, no exams, no blood work, no really "hard" stuff it must have been tramautic for Lexi because she literally cried the whole time. When I laid down so that the nurse could read the heart beat count, the minute I laid down and the doppler turned on, Lexi started crying hard and saying, "Mommy, Mommy, over and over. Then, I had to go to the bathroom and do the routine peeing in the cup and when I was in there with Lexi she freaked out again! THEN, when the doc came in and started measuring my stomach she cried and said, NO more, all done! I kid you not, you would have thought we were at the pediatricians office giving her 5 shots! When I was all done and just talking with the doc I held her and she calmed down. I guess she better wait a while before becoming a mommy :) I don't think she would be able to handle it :) I do feel bad though, because next week SHE has to go to the doc for her 2 year check up. Hopefully she will do better there than at my appointment.

Anyways, all in all my life is good at the moment and I am so grateful to be given the opportunity to be a mom again to another one of God's spirit children. Although I have a lot of anxiety this time and fears that I won't be able to raise two little ones, I feel in my heart this is the right time and the right place to be having another child. Chris and I both new it was time to extend our family and we both have had nothing but thanks that I was able to get pregnant again. So, I know with the Lord's help, Chris's help, and a lot of prayer, I will be able to raise these two sweet spirits that are our family.

Fire and Ice Festival

Last weekend, we went to downtown and attended the annual fire and ice festival. It was really neat. The zoo sponsored it this year, so all the ice sculptures were of animals. Ice carvings are amazing to me. lexi loved looking and touching these cold creations. The fire station was also opened, so we were able to go and see fire trucks, fireman gear, and what a fire station looks like from the inside. This was the highlight of the night for Lexi. She cried when we had to leave. At the end of the night, there was a fantastic firework display. We were right underneath them. It looked like the fireworks were going to burst down on us. It was awesome! Well, awesome for Chris and I. Lexi did not like the fireworks. At first she was sort of into it, but then she buried her head into my shoulder and said, "All done" with a panic tone. I think it was too loud for her. Plus, it was FREEZING! I mean freezing! We went prepared, but when we got back to the car we all looked like rudolphs with our nose so bright and Chris and I were numb in our legs, so we can only imagine what Alexis felt like. However, it was well worth it. Also at the festival was ice skating and tubing. Lexi did not meet the qualifications for tubing, so we just watched kids go down and she still thought that was neat. Anyways, here are some pics of the evening. I know it is hard to see the detail on the sculptures due to their transparency, so sorry about that.
